 Walks Near Berkhamsted

 

The Kings Arms in Berkhamsted is located close to the Chiltern Hills and offers many walking destinations and routes to follow and enjoy.   Ashridge is simply stunning and if you stay in mid-late Spring, you will be able to enjoy your walk through fields of Bluebells.  And after all that fresh air, you will certainly deserve a chilled drink on your return in our gorgeous bar.

 
 

Pitstone Hill, Ashridge and Aldbury

This 6 mile circular walk initially follows the ancient Ridgeway with stunning views from the top of Pitstone Hill before returning through the beautiful woodland of the National Trust’s Ashridge Estate. The picturesque village of Aldbury towards the end of the route has featured in many film and television productions from Midsomer Murders and Inspector Morse to Bridget Jones. Starting and finishing at Tring Railway Station, this is a pretty and varied walk. A 5 mile drive from The Kings Arms.

 
 

Berkhamsted Waterways Walk

Starting and finishing at Berkhamsted Station, this 6 mile walk explores the historic town and countryside of Berkhamsted. It incorporates the Grand Union Canal, The River Bulbourne, and allows for a detour to Berkhamsted Castle.

 
 

Ivinghoe Beacon

There are dozens of recognised walking routes around Ivinghoe and the surrounding areas. This 5.5 mile walk starts in the Ivinghoe Beacon car park, with views of the Whipsnade Lion, walking up onto the Beacon where the views are spectacular, down through the common, across to Whipsnade and back to the car park. Wendover Woods

There are lots of circular walks with trail markers around Wendover and the woods. It is particularly pretty in April and May when the carpet of bluebells are in bloom. Wendover has a quaint little high street to stroll around. A 10 mile drive from The Kings Arms.
