If you like 'Mumford and Sons' don’t hang on too long before you book your Greene Note tickets to see CC Smugglers. They deliver a hugely engaging live show - a rocking string band somewhat reminiscent of Old Crow Medicine Show.
April 3rd - don't miss it.
British, Roots-Americana Group - Up-Tempo Swing, Blues, Bluegrass, Gypsy and Folk inspired dancing tunes.
CC SMUGGLERS are accomplished multi instrumentalists and top showmen. As a band they have earned themselves a reputation for red-hot live shows and tight infectious performances. Their skills honed as a busker band saw them playing street corners across the UK and into Europe. Since then they have swiftly continued to take the live circuits and festival scene by storm.
Ever true to their busking roots however, they have won the approval of such acts as Seasick Steve and Old Crow Medicine Show when applying their infamous ‘Guerrilla Busking’ approach to performance and promotion. A kicking fiddle and banjo driven rocking string band.

talking about his new book
CRUEL CROSSING: ESCAPING HITLER ACROSS THE PYRENEES
CRUEL CROSSING relates the secret history of the World War Two escape routes through the Pyrenees from occupied France to Spain; personal stories of endurance, betrayal and remarkable bravery.
Today, these people’s bravery and endurance is commemorated each July by a trek along the Chemin de la Liberte - the toughest and most dangerous of wartime routes. Ed Stourton took part in this trek, and from his fellow pilgrims uncovered stories of midnight scrambles across rooftops, drops from speeding trains, doomed love affairs, horrific murder and astonishing heroism.
Drawing on interviews with these few remaining survivors and the families of those who were there, Ed Stourton’s vivid history of this little-known aspect of the Second World War is shocking, dramatic and intensely moving.

We are delighted to announce that all of our menus here at The Kings Arms can now easily be accessed by visually impaired people through the revolutionary Good Food Talks web app.
The app has been founded by Matt Wadsworth, registered blind, who claims to have been poorly served by restaurants so far. He said the app makes eating out more enjoyable for visually impaired people, since they don’t have to rely on others reading a menu to them. “Everyone at the table is equal and autonomous, making dining out more dignified, more sociable, and more fun.”
The idea is that whether you are totally blind and use the text-to-speech software or simply need to invert colours or zoom to make things clearer, the app makes ordering in a restaurant much more straight-forward and gives you back independence and control over your experience.
The Good Food Talks app is free and doesn’t have to be downloaded to a phone. By simply visiting the Good Food Talks website you can identify The Kings Arms website and then select our menus. With the accessibility settings of your smart-phone activated, the app will read the names, descriptions and prices of each dish to you.
